TODD FREITAG
OWNER

Todd graduated from Bowman High School in 1986 and went on to get a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business and Marketing at Evangel College in Springfield, MO. Right after college, Todd began a very successful career in sales and management. Being one of the top multi-million dollar sales producers in his industry, it allowed him to work his way up to the top of management with one of the most prestigious companies in the United States.

 

In 2001, Todd and his family decided to move back to North Dakota to raise their children in a great environment. Before Todd made this major decision to not only leave his job, but his industry, he realized that he would have to find an industry which would allow him to meet his high standards for business. He found a perfect fit with Sparling Construction, because not only was this Todd's second passion, building and remodeling, but Todd also found the same values, goals, and reputation that he was used to being affiliated with.

 

Todd purchased Sparling Construction in July of 2012 with the goal of bringing the company to new levels. Todd is actively responsible for the overall operations of the company, including marketing, consulting, personnel, purchasing of new product lines, and leadership. Todd enjoys creating synergy both internally with the employees and externally with the clients.

SCOTT BERNSTEIN
CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER

Scott's earliest memories are of taking meals to 'seniors' and having many of them enjoy home cooked meals at the Bernstein table.

This was not just a verse from the Bible... it was a command that required it be lived out in actions. Scott's mom taught ceramics to developmentally and physically disabled and held a weekly Bible Study for six senior ladies that were cared for in a duplex directly behind the Bernstein home. DNA and actions shaped Scott's perspective on aging and differently-abled people.

 

Scott has served as a pastor in large congregations where he led Pastoral Care with oversight for 5,000 people.  He worked in the Twin Cities as a Behavioral Analyst and eventually became an Executive Director for large assisted livings.  In these multi-million dollar operations he trained and built teams of care-givers.  He has also guided hundreds of families walking their loved-ones through the difficult transition to assisted living or memory care.  However, his unwavering commitment was to maximize the independence of seniors or those facing physical challenges.

 

Scott has developed innovative approaches to person-centered care transforming how a person living with dementia experience the world.  He has also been a frequent speaker (certified to provide Continuing Education Units) on “The Journey Through Memory Care.”  His “Be Bold – Claim Old” series has reshaped the way seniors think about aging and maximizing their abilities and independence.

 

He has frequently co-presented with the Alzheimer's Association and worked with the North Dakota Long Term Care Association to revise laws that directly affect how care is provided to seniors.

 

Scott is passionate about helping seniors age in the place they love most – their home.  He has witnessed first-hand how a simple environmental modification could have allowed a person to stay safely in their own home.

the enemy to our aging in place...Universal Design age proofs your home.”

 

Scott graduated from Northwestern College with an Organization Administration Degree and completed an M.Div. Degree, from Bethel University focusing on communication...graduating summa cum laude.  Scott passionately believes that lifelong learning and innovation is a key to finding powerful new solutions for the age wave and their desire to live independently in their own home.

Jesse graduated from the University of Mary in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and also studied Entrepreneurship at the University of North Dakota.

 

He has played a big part in launching GoUniversal by designing our logo, marketing materials, and website.

 

His primary responsibilites include graphic design, web design, marketing, brand strategy, home design, logistics, and being a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist.

In his free time, Jesse enjoys playing sports, spending time with family & friends, playing guitar, watching movies, and listening to audiobooks.

JESSE FREITAG
CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Jordan graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 2018. He is also a Second Lieutenant in the North Dakota National Guard as an Engineering Officer.

 

Jordan handles the management of our projects which includes coordinating with subcontractors, directing our carpenters/installers, and communicating with our clients. He also helps coordinate our company's safety program and our warehousing.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing bass guitar, working out, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
